Q. Does everyone who attends tryouts make a team? A. Yes. Tryouts are designed for the coaches to evaluate the players to draft teams. Q. Do you need to attend both tryout sessions? A. No. You only need to attend one tryout. Q. What do you wear to tryouts? A. Shorts, t-shirt, cleats or sneakers. Q. What do you do at tryouts? A. You will run, throw the football, catch the football, and kick the ball. Q. Are you required to tryout? A. No. You do not have to tryout if you are returning to your prior season team in the same division. You must complete the section on the registration form regarding returning to the same team. If you are new to the league or moving up to the next age division, and choose to not tryout, you will be placed in the Blind Draft. Q. What is the Blind Draft? A. The Blind Draft is for those who were unable to attend a tryout session. They will be picked from a hat and placed on a team. Q. May you request a specific coach or request the same team as your friend? A. No. Teams are all drafted. Exception: Brothers will be placed on the same team unless a request is made from the parent to place them on separate teams. Q. When do I find out what team I am on? A. You will receive a call from your head coach after the draft. Q. What is included in your registration fee? A. Registration Fees include your game day pants and jersey, helmet decals, end of season trophies, team picture and cost associated with running the league. Q. How do you determine what size pants and jersey my child will wear? A. Your child will have the opportunity to be fitted for his game day uniform at one of the registration days. Q. What equipment is required to play football? A. You will need to provide a helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, pads for the pants (hip, tailbone, knee, thigh), cleats, practice pants and jersey. Q. How long is the KFL regular season? A. The KFL season begins each year with League Night usually held during the last week in July and ends with the Superbowl in late October or early November. Q. What is League Night and who should attend? A. League Night is an opportunity meet the KFL Board Members. You will receive information about league and the coming season. Your child will also meet his/her coach and the other players or cheerleaders on their team. League Night is for your entire family. We strongly encourage both parents to attend. Siblings are welcome. Q. When does practice start? A. Practice may begin the day following League Night. Your child’s coach will provide you with a practice schedule. Q. What does my child wear to practice? A. The first two practices your child will wear shorts/t-shirt, cleats, helmet and mouthpiece. Practices after the second practice, full pads will be worn. Q. How long are practices? A. Practices are limited to no more than 2 hours and must end by 8 pm. Q. How many practices are expected per week? A. You should expect to have 4 events per week. Before the games begin, this will consist of 4 practices per week. Once the games begin, it will consist of 3 practices and one game. Q. Where are practices held? A. Coaches will hold practice at Kingwood area elementary or middle schools. Q. What is the Jamboree? A. The Jamboree is an event that provides the players an opportunity to participate in a few short scrimmages before their first season game. Q. When do games begin? A. Games will start the first Saturday after the Jamboree. Q. Where are games played? A. Home games are played at the KFL Field Complex off North Park Drive in Kingwood. See the map on the website. Away games are played at other Lone Star Youth Alliance Teams’ facilities such as Linsey Lions in Humble, South County in The Woodlands, Cleveland, Crosby, etc.
